Eastern Florida State College Softball Shocks Seminole State with a Dramatic Split
In a two‑game weekend finale at Titan Softball Complex, the EFSC Titans put on a show no one expected to see twice.
Day One: A Grand Slam Blow‑out (But Not the Whole Story)
- Freshman Jessica Camacho blasted her first career homer—a jaw‑dropping grand slam—to give the Titans a 4‑0 advantage early on.
- Seminole State rallied in the fourth, with Julianna Nieves and Mia Terito delivering two‑run homers that erased the lead and pulled the game to 5‑4.
- The game stuck at a tie until the seventh inning when Izabell LaRoche pumped two runs into the locker room, securing a 7‑5 victory for the Raiders.
- Makayla Nieves also added a homer for the Raiders in Game 1.
Day Two: The Walk‑Off Thriller
- Seminole State opened with a 2‑0 edge in the third, only for EFSC to respond where Avery Velazquez nulled it with an RBI single.
- EFSC’s lead grew in the fifth: Camacho’s double put it on the board, and Aracelis Jimenez finished the inning with a single to extend the tally to 4–2.
- A big “oops” by the Raiders in the sixth let in four runs. Yet, EFSC clawed back, pushing the top back to 4‑4 through a combination of a Martha Jones single and a Jessica Merk hit.
- The decisive moment came with Ashley Grieser exploding a double in the late innings, followed by a strategic bunt and Camacho’s hittable single that powered the winning run over the fence.
Next Up: Conference Road Bash
Thomas, the Titans will bounce off and attack a doubleheader at Hillsborough Community College on Thursday at 4 p.m. This is just the first of three consecutive road assignments for the guys this season.
