EFSC Titans Face Two Tough Losses in Panama City Beach

It’s been a rough weekend for the Eastern Florida State College baseball squad. On Saturday, the Titans fell 13‑6 to Chipola College in the Visit Panama City Beach Classic, and on Sunday they lost the third‑place clash to Gulf Coast State 6‑3.

Chipola Breaks The Titans’ Streak

So far this season the Titans are 6‑1 overall, but the first loss came Friday night, and it was a rain‑check for the fans. Chipola exploded early, scoring eight runs in the first two innings. Inside the box, the Titans rallied, hitting three runs in the bottom of the second to keep their hopes alive.

When the scoreboard read 10‑3 after a solo homer in the fourth, Chipola still had more fire. But the Titans answered back with two more runs before the half‑innings ended.

Late in the game, a bit of action opened up in the seventh inning, with the Titans adding a single run while Jamel Vera Jr. knocked in two, Nick Paszt was 1‑for‑3 and drove in two, and Bryce Jackson went 1‑for‑1 but didn’t score.

The Titans will return home Thursday evening for a showdown with Polk State at Bruce Bochy Field. It’s on at 5 p.m. – you can’t miss it!

Gulf Coast State Turns the Tide

On Sunday, the Titans took the lead early. Jeff Davis nailed a triple in the first inning, thanks to a ground ball that sent Bo Tabola home. By the third, Jason Mack hit a two‑run homer for a solid 3‑1 advantage. A valiant try by the Titans’ pitcher capped the rally, though it seemed like the momentum was slipping.

Gulf Coast State stayed patient and capped a perfect run‐sweepning clutch with back‑to‑back homers, pulling into a 3‑3 tie come the fifth. Nevertheless, the Titans were unable to hold the lead after 7th. The Game ended 6‑3.

The crew is headed to Palm Beach State this Tuesday before the All‑Star matchup that’s expected to be a bowl of excitement each Thursday night. 5 p.m. again in Bruce Bochy Field – free admission plus live streaming on EFSC’s YouTube channel.
