EFSC Titans Take a Hit – Lost the Opening Game to Daytona Falcons

Friday night in Daytona turned into a disappointing finale for the Eastern Florida State College Titans. After a promising start, they let the Falcons steamroll them 6‑4, dropping to a 12‑13 spot in the Citrus Conference standings.

    What Went Down

    • EFSC went on fire early, scoring in the first four innings (2‑0, 2‑0) and led 4‑1 heading into the half‑innings.
    • Daytona capitalised in the middle part of the game – three runs in the fifth, trim the gap to 4‑4.
    • The Falcons surged in the sixth with a quick run, then added another in the eighth to seal the win.
    • Result: Titans finish 12‑13 in the conference.

    Big‑Name Performances

    • William Rollings (Daytona) went 3/3 with four RBIs, the classic multi‑hit, multi‑run hero.
    • EFSC’s Jeff Davis keeps a respectable .362 average while knocking out three homers.
    • Shane Thomas matches him with a .353 batting average, and Kevin Smith, the leadoff slugger, is batting .344.
    • Overall, EFSC is cruising at .297 as a team.

What’s Next – Saturday’s Doubleheader at Bruce Bochy Field

All eyes turn to Bruce Bochy Field on Saturday—expect a doubleheader that kicks off at 1 p.m. for two 9‑inning showdowns. The tickets? Free. The broadcast? Live on the EFSC Titans YouTube page.

This might be a chance to turn the tide. EFSC will need a rally to bring the series back into play. Will they rebuild on the mound, or spark offense with a new spark? Only the game will tell.

    SCOREBOARD
    Cocoa 30 – Merritt Island 24 (OT)
One of the most anticipated week 1 matchups around the county lived up to the hype. This game was neck and neck all game long, finishing with an overtime thriller.

WATCH REPLAY: Cocoa Tigers, Merritt Island Mustangs Set to Square Off in Season Opener on Space Coast Daily TV.Viera 22 – Rockledge 21
The backyard brawl is always a fight till the end, and can go either way. Rockledge led nearly the entire game. However, the Hawks capitalized down the stretch, scoring a late fourth-quarter touchdown and converting a two-point conversion to take the lead and win this one.
    Heritage 25 – Titusville 19 (OT)
It’s hard to imagine a better Week 1 matchup between two teams with a lot to prove. Heritage picks up an enormous season-opening victory on the road against a scrappy Titusville Terriers team.
    Vero Beach 41 – Eau Gallie 31
This game saw multiple injuries, and unfortunately, the biggest ones were the starting quarterbacks for both sides. Vero Beach wanted this game badly after dropping last year’s opener to the Commodores.

Huge statement for the War Eagles, not only did they beat Palm Bay, but they did it convincingly. Astronaut is looking to have a big season after missing the playoffs a season ago.
    Holy Trinity 28 – Legacy 14
Huge week 1 win for a Holy Trinity team looking to return to the playoffs with a lot of unfinished business on their minds.
    Melbourne Central Catholic 35 – Somerset 7
A convincing win for the Hustlers after losing their kickoff classic a week ago.
    Space Coast 7 – Gateway 2
A low-scoring defensive matchup that defines the saying “defense wins championships.” While there is a lot of work to do for both sides, the Vipers will be happy getting out of there with a victory.
    Melbourne 58 – Cocoa Beach 7
Melbourne led big from the beginning and never looked back, a great momentum-creating victory to start the season for the Bulldogs.
    Satellite 19 – Halifax 0
Not an offensive barrage for the Scorpions, but defense with a shutout is exactly what head coach Dan Burke would draw up.
    Bayside 19 – Atlantic 6
The Bears pick up a massive win over Atlantic and hope to start a win streak as their season rolls along.
Merritt Island Christian 44 – Ocala Christian 8
Business as usual for the Cougars as they move to 2-0 on the season, looking to move to 3-0 next week, setting up a huge playoff rematch from a season ago against Countryside Christian.HOT OFF THE PRESS!
