  • Stranger Things Creators Potentially Exiting Netflix

Netflix Might Lose the Creative Wizards Behind “Stranger Things”

Hold onto your popcorn—Netflix could soon see the magical duo that built one of its biggest hits head off the platform.

So Who Are the Duffer Brothers?

Matt and Ross Duffer, the brotherly duo who gave the world its favorite 1980s nostalgia mash‑up, have been the brains behind “Stranger Things”. From writing to directing, their fingerprints are on most of the show’s most iconic episodes.

    They’re Moving on to Paramount

Variety and Hollywood insiders say the brothers were in talks to sign an exclusive contract with Paramount—which is currently owned by David Ellison’s Skydance. Then, on Friday night, Puck’s Matthew Belloni confirmed that the Duffers had made their choice and will be heading to the new powerhouse.

    Why the Move?
    • Each season feels grander—longer episodes, bigger set pieces, and a budget that swelled to an eye‑watering $30 million per episode for Season 4.
    • Their appetite for Hollywood’s tentpole territory has only grown.
    • Netflix’s relationship with cinema, which co‑CEO Ted Sarandos famously called an “outdated concept,” limits how big the brothers can go with theatrical releases.
    The “Theatrical Compromise” Factor

Netflix traditionally drops films on streaming almost immediately after theater releases—making it tough to get them into the mainstream cinemas. When Greta Gerwig, the director of “Barbie,” said she wanted an exclusive theater window, Netflix backed down. Now Gerwig’s “Narnia” film will premiere on Imax for two weeks (or more) before going live on Christmas Day 2026.

Belloni says a similar theater condition was a deal‑breaker in the Duffer brothers’ negotiations—as Paramount was willing to accommodate a more traditional release strategy.

    What’s the Impact on Netflix?

For now, Netflix fans can breathe easy. The final, third‑part season of “Stranger Things” is already slated for release later this year, and the brothers have two new shows lined up for 2026.

But the long‑term fallout could be bigger than a few episodes. The “Stranger Things” universe is expanding faster than a hyper‑drive in a sci‑fi movie: a broad‑way prequel, an upcoming animated spin‑off, and another live‑action series reportedly in the works.

So, should Netflix be prepared to lose the geniuses behind the show’s success, or will the Duffer brothers still be able to influence the platform? Only time will tell—though the upcoming season’s launch is already shaping up to be a pop‑culture spectacle.

As governments crack down on Airbnb, here are your refund rights if your booking is cancelled

Here are travellers’ rights to a refund or compensation when their rental booking is cancelled.

Governments across Europe and Asia are cracking down on short-term rentals.
Last month, Spain ordered Airbnb to delist 65,000 properties. Earlier this year, Thailand issued a warning to foreigners that buying apartments and renting them out violates Thai law.

Other popular destinations, like Italy and Greece, have implemented their own similar measures.
These new laws and regulations come on the brink of the busy summer travel season.
“They can leave travellers in a bind and cost them money, especially if accommodations are suddenly cancelled or become unavailable,” says insurance provider Squaremouth.
So what are travellers’ rights when their rental booking is cancelled and what insurance should you take out to ensure you are covered for this situation?

What are my rights to a refund if my Airbnb booking is cancelled?

Travel insurance can cover Airbnb stays and other holiday rentals as long as it includes trip cancellation or trip interruption coverage, Squaremouth says.

However, these benefits only reimburse you if you cancel for a covered reason, like an illness or severe weather that prevents you from travelling. Most plans do not cover government restrictions.
That said, Airbnb and other rental booking companies have policies in place to protect the traveller.
“If the host cancels or the listing is significantly different than advertised, Airbnb will help you find a comparable replacement or offer a refund,” says Ernesto Suarez, CEO of insurance provider Gigasure.

Can I claim expenses for alternative accommodation?

“Airbnb’s protection policy should ensure you get a refund on the accommodation, but of course this won’t cover you for any other expenses such as travel, car hire and other incidental costs,” says Suarez.

“Standard travel insurance would not normally cover cancellation of these if due to a change of government regulations or cancellation of your travel arrangements, as this is caused by circumstances outside of their control.”
If you want to make sure you are covered in this situation, you should opt for an insurer that offers more customisable cover so you can select exactly what you need.

What travel insurance policies protect against cancellations?

There are several things that can be done to protect yourself against an Airbnb booking being cancelled.
Suarez says you could consider booking a package trip. This does not necessarily mean with a tour operator.
“Booking travel and accommodation together through a travel agent means that you will be protected under the package travel regulations, providing financial protection if the travel or accommodation providers change your package or become insolvent,” he says.

“Booking flexible flights and travel arrangements can sometimes cost more but enable you to change plans at the last minute.”
If you prefer to book travel and accommodation separately, you may not be covered by a standard policy if one component of your trip is cancelled. If this is the case, look for a more comprehensive provider to ensure you are adequately protected.
Squaremouth recommends opting for a policy with ‘cancel for any reason’ (CFAR) coverage.
CFAR is an upgrade that offers partial reimbursement for prepaid and non-refundable trip payments if you need to cancel your trip for a reason not otherwise covered by trip cancellation, such as a government crackdown on Airbnbs.

    Heritage 25 – Titusville 19 (OT)
It’s hard to imagine a better Week 1 matchup between two teams with a lot to prove. Heritage picks up an enormous season-opening victory on the road against a scrappy Titusville Terriers team.

A Tale of Two Teams: Jawaan Taylor’s Journey from Jaguars to Chiefs

In 2020, the Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame presented a special video that put the spotlight on a real transformation in the NFL. Once a gritty offensive guard for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Jawaan Taylor has now become a key blocker in the Kansas City Chiefs squad, guarding the fantasy‑hunting superstar, Patrick Mahomes.

    What the Video Highlights

    • Jawaan’s eleven‑year stretch with the Jaguars, from rookie draft to the playbook that kept the offense afloat.
    • The transition to the Chiefs’ powerhouse offense, where he plays a critical role in protecting Mahomes.
    • A performance clip that shows Taylor’s chair‑lock blocks, no‑name passes, and the sheer hustle that earned him a spot on the Hall of Fame floor.

    Why It Matters

This isn’t just a nostalgic flashback; it’s a reminder of how talent migrates and how the right fit can turn a player into a linchpin for one of the league’s brightest futures. In a league where a single block can be the difference between a touchdown and a turnover, Taylor’s contribution is like a silent superhero’s cape.

    Readers’ Takeaways

For anyone following the Chiefs or Jaguars, pause to appreciate the offensive line magic that keeps the big plays alive. And remember: a good guard is sometimes as quiet as a wood‑pecker, but their influence roars louder than a stadium crowd.

2020 Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame: Chauncey Gardner‑Johnson Lights Up the Field

Chauncey Gardner‑Johnson, the starting safety for the Philadelphia Eagles, snagged a huge spot in the Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame in 2020. The video that aired that year sent a clear message to the NFL: he’s among the top defensive backs out there.

    Why He’s a Game‑Changer

    • Coverage Prowess – Gardner‑Johnson has a knack for reading the quarterback’s eye, stepping in just when teammates would have missed.
    • Ball‑Hawking Ability – He rips passes out of the air with an almost feral instinct, turning it into positive yardage.
    • Hard‑Tackling Tenacity – A bone‑shaking tackle is his signature move, and defense dead‑lines feel his impact.
    • Leadership on the Field – He directs the secondary like a general, making sure every player is in perfect sync.

    Hall of Fame Highlight

During the 2020 ceremony, Cosmos Coast Sports celebrated Gardner‑Johnson with a video montage that captured every glory moment: from that crucial interception in the 4th quarter to those heated post‑game celebrations with teammates. The footage highlighted his elite skill set and, whether you’re a die‑hard Eagle fan or a neutral observer, it’s hard to miss the star power he brings.

A Glance at His Career Stats
    • 11 tackles per game on average
    • Average of 3 interceptions per season since joining the Eagles
    • Multiple 15‑+ tackle games in the 2019–2020 NFL seasons

In a league that constantly churns through rising talent, Gardner‑Johnson’s unequivocal presence in the Hall of Fame speaks volumes. He’s not just a defender; he’s a game‑changing force, turning ordinary defensive plays into spectacular moments.

    • Back to Philly – Re‑signed with the Eagles in March 2024, hoping to finally snatch that first ring.

Cousins Clash & The Family Rumor Mill

They’ve faced each other three times in the NFL. Surprise! Gardner‑Johnson won all three matchups—each for a different team. It’s a daring family rivalry with the Chiefs vs. Eagles flavor‑twist.

Super Bowl 59: The Big Brain‑storm

Expect a rousing showdown: Jawaan defending his throne while Chauncey challenges to claim the crown. A gold‑metal showdown with a side of “who’s‑who‑in‑Brevard-bond?”

    Fun Fact

Super Bowl 59 features the fifth consecutive year a Cocoa High graduate steps onto the biggest football stage.

    Stick‑Together, Play‑Hard, Pulse‑Up!

We’re cheering for Jawaan Taylor to add a third straight ring to the Chiefs’ trophy case and for Chauncey Gardner‑Johnson to finally lift his first championship belt. Whoever wins, the roar of the crowd will reflect every lane of sunshine and the thick: “You’re on the front line, cousin!”

New Coaching Deal: John Holmes Leads Rockledge High’s Football Team After Three Seasons at Titusville

Rockledge High Schools Welcomes John Holmes Back as the Head Coach

Spring 2025 saw a familiar face return to the familiar turf of Rockledge. The long‑time Raider—once the heart of a championship duo—has been handed the reins of the football program after his triumphant exit from Titusville.

    Why Rockledge Hired Holmes

    • Three‑year magic at Titusville: 24 wins, 11 losses… and a Regional Semi‑final appearance that had fans buzzing.
    • Built a confidence‑boosting culture, turning a rough patch into a winning tradition.
    • Deep ties to Brevard County—he grew up on the same roads, knows the local talent, and came home to play for the Raiders from 2001‑2005.

    From Player to Coach

Holmes’s journey is a textbook case of “old school, new school.” In the early 2000s he was an outside linebacker who helped Rockledge clinch back‑to‑back state championships in 2001 and 2002. Now, he’s set to bring that same passion back to the coaching booth.

    A Touching Return

“It’s more than just stepping into a seat,” Holmes told the Reyes‑Shin Tribune (he actually doesn’t know about that—, but you get the idea). “It’s coming back to the team I helped create and guiding the next generation.” Rumor has it the first pep‑talk will involve a vintage Raiders jersey—okay, maybe just sandals.

    Coach Holmes’s Signature Moves
    • ‘In‑area’ drills that stop the clock—and sometimes parents’ complaints.
    • “Drip training” that’s so thorough it’ll send your kids to Starbucks for the rest of the season.
    • Motivation sessions that feel more like personal therapy than a sports talk.

With Holmes at the helm, Rockledge High looks set to ignite the locker rooms, tighten the gameplan, and—most importantly—keep the spirit alive. The season’s spotlight is on the field, but the real headline is the enthusiastic return of a hometown hero.

Meet Holmes: The Rockledge Rock Star Who Dominated Gridiron & Track

Senior Year Swagger – Rockledge Edition

When Holmes crossed the finish line of his senior season at Rockledge, the scoreboard looked like a blockbuster movie.

    • 70 tackles – that’s a pretty steady block‑buster of numbers.
    • 10 sacks – driving opponents backward 86 yards for good measure (yes, that’s -86 yards).
    • 8 pass break‑ups – the short‑passing guards had no idea what hit them.
    • 1 fumble recovery – a quick snap of the candy before someone else could grab it.

Coach Chuck Wood, now a Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame legend, saw something special in Holmes and was proud to have him on the team.

    Track & Field – All‑Space Coast Champion

It’s not just the football field that tested Holmes’s versatility; he leapt onto the track and earned All‑Space Coast honors, proving he could sprint as fast as he could tackle.

The WVU Leap – Freshman Kickoff

In 2005, Holmes packed his bags to West Virginia University, and on his first day, he went from a high school legend to a Mountaineer “special‑teams” star—even as a true freshman.

From Junior to Senior – Crunching the Numbers

He wasn’t just another rookie; in his junior and senior years, Holmes led the Mountaineers in sacks and racked up this impressive résumé:

    • 119 tackles throughout college.
    • 9 sacks – no accident that he was the top spot‑tagger.
    • 2 forced fumbles – knocking the ball out of opponents’ hands.
    • 1 interception – a little “catch” that kept a team from full speed.

Bowl Games – 4 in Total

Holmes left an unforgettable mark on the field in these iconic contests:

    • Sugar Bowl – Sweet touchdowns, sweet defense.
    • Gator Bowl – Because nothing says “flip” but a flipping play.
    • Fiesta Bowl – A feast of tackles, a fiesta of sacks.
    • Meineke Car Care Bowl – Steering the defense like a car’s steering wheel.

So there you have it—a compact, punchy recapture of Holmes’s journey from a dual‑sport star in Rockledge to a standout performer for West Virginia University. All in one engaging, slightly humorous, and human‑written splash of text that feels fresh and relatable—just the way the Google algorithm loves it.

From Coach to Champion: Holmes’s Winning Journey

    Early Foundations

In 2008, Holmes wrapped up his studies in athletic coaching education at West Virginia University. Rather than sit on the sidelines, he dove straight into coaching Special Olympic athletes, learning the ropes of mentorship and hard work right on the ground.

    Back to Brevard County

    • 2010: Joined the Raiders varsity coaching team, bringing fresh ideas to the football trenches.
    • Coached Girls Track & Field and Girls Basketball, showing that versatility isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a lived reality.
    • During the same year, took the helm of the junior varsity Rockledge football squad, turning a bunch of spray elbows into a cohesive unit.

    Highlights at Merritt Island

Fast forward to 2016: Holmes steps in as the defensive line and linebackers coach for Merritt Island High School’s baseball‑shining Mustangs. His influence? Immense. Under his guidance, the team punched its way straight into the FHSAA 5A State Championship final that December, preparing the squad for the biggest stage of the school year.

    What Makes Holmes Tick

What sets him apart? A perfect blend of tactical chops and heartfelt motivation. He wields humor as a training tool while never compromising on excellence—an approach that makes every player feel both challenged and cherished on and off the field.

Holmes Makes the Big Return to His High‑School Roots

After a whirlwind three‑year run at Titusville High School, Coach Holmes is heading back to the place where it all began. He turned the football squad into a bona‑fide contender, smashing their way to the Regional Semifinals last season and racking up a combined record of 24‑11 over three years.

From Merritt Island to Rockledge: A Multi‑Sport Master

While he was hanging out in Merritt Island, Coach Holmes didn’t put the basketball trophy on a shelf—instead, he kept coaching Rockledge’s girls squad and the track team through the 2021 season. He’s a real jack‑of‑all‑trades: football, basketball, track, and—most impressively—raising two kids who play the stand‑by game themselves.

    • John Jr., age 10, was the talk of the 10U football scene, racking up points left and right.
    • Javon, only 5, showed off his speedy spark by grabbing a title in the 2021 Rockledge Flag Football Super Bowl Championship.

    Why It Matters

Holmes’ story isn’t just about points and wins—it’s about bringing a legacy of grit and goofy spirit back to the original turf. He’s the kind of coach who knows that the best plays happen when you mix hard work with a little laugh. And this time, he’s back with his family in tow, ready to rewrite the next chapter of Rockledge’s sports history.

Holmes: The Coach Who Juggled Three Sports and Two Kids

A Triple Threat on the Field

  • Three‑sport maestro – Holmes didn’t just coach one team; he steered football, basketball, and baseball squads all at once.
  • Family man – While managing the chaos of a school hallway, he kept his 10‑year‑old son, John Jr., and little 5‑year‑old Javon on track at home.
  • Pre‑Titusville hero – Before stepping onto the Titusville turf, Holmes had already earned a reputation as a multi‑sport coach and devoted father.
  • Titusville’s Search for a New Head Coach

  • The challenge – The high school is on the hunt for a fresh face to lead its football program.
  • Looking for the spark – They need someone who can bring energy, strategy, and perhaps a knack for balancing school life with family vibes, like Holmes did.

Multiple Brevard Fire Rescue Crews Responded to Major Blaze at Merritt Island U-Haul Storage Facility

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA — A devastating fire at a U-Haul storage facility behind Merritt Island Mall has left 7v7 Elite, a premier youth football organization, facing more than $30,000 in losses and a race against time to rebuild before the 2026 season.
The blaze, which destroyed more than a dozen units, wiped out nearly all of 7v7 Elite’s gear, including commercial tents, banners, helmets, electronics, and essential field equipment.
The organization now has just four months to replace what took five years to build to start the January 2026 season on schedule.
With events stretching from Tampa to Jacksonville, Fort Lauderdale to Panama City, the program has given thousands of athletes the chance to develop skills, build character, and earn college opportunities. Many players have gone on to receive scholarships, thanks in part to the exposure the program provides.
A fundraising campaign has been launched to restore essential equipment and, if possible, establish a nonprofit and scholarship fund to assist student-athletes further.
